Unfortunately, today's publishers— whether print or on-line — do not have the resources to develop prospective manuscripts the way they used to, which means that without some outside assistance even the most talented writers might be left unpublished.

With nearly two decades of experience in preparing writers for work in journalism, I know how difficult it is to break into the writing business. And as a writer, I also know the value of an independent, thorough critique. As an editor, I am first and foremost a writing coach. I offer comprehensive private consultations, working with you to build on your existing strengths by identifying the best of your writing and devising strategies to raise all of your writing to that level. In addition, I can help you develop strategies for getting your work published.

Because I am also a writer, I know the importance of a writer's voice and style. As an editor, I want to understand where you want to go with your writing and offer you detailed feedback to help you get there. Just as in a workshop, I will respect your efforts by giving direct and constructive critique, focusing on structure, narrative, theme and voice.
